Buoyage changes, Loch Carnan, South Uist

It has been identified that a change in buoyage would be beneficial to vessels navigating in the area of Loch Carnan, South Uist and the proposed Tarenish Salmon Farm.

Of the two lateral marker buoys circled in the images below, the red port hand lateral mark will be removed, and the green starboard mark will be relocated to a new position to the SW, at approximately 57° 22.365’ N, 007° 15.011’ W. The relocation, approved by the Northern Lighthouse Board, is currently scheduled to be undertaken by the vessel 'Kingdom of Fife' week commencing 20th July 2026.
